You Are Shaped for a Life Mission


“I have formed these people for Myself. They will praise Me.” 
(Isaiah 43:21 GW)

You are commissioned for a life mission!

The Bible says in Isaiah 49:5, “And now the LORD speaks — the One Who formed me in my mother’s womb to be His servant, Who commissioned me” (NLT)

Your shape — your spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences — equip you for your life mission and your life message.

What is your life mission? It’s your life’s work. It’s what God created you to do on this planet. The body of your life work is your life mission.

What is your life message? It’s what God wants to say to the world through you. It’s unique. It’s your message from your life to the world.

I can’t give your life message, because I’m not you. You can’t give my life message, because you’re not me. You can only give your life message, and I can only give mine. If you don’t give your life message to the world, it doesn’t get heard.

When an artist accepts a commission, he makes a commitment to complete a certain task. You have been commissioned by God to fulfill your mission and your message in the world. God has shaped you and given you the exact tools and traits that you need to complete your task, and when you use them to complete your mission, it pleases God.

Isaiah 43:21 says, “I have formed these people for Myself. They will praise Me” (GW).

How do you do that? How do you broadcast God’s praises with your life? By being who God made you to be.

When you use the gifts and abilities and personality and passion and experiences that God gave you that make you you, that brings glory to God.

Why Nagging Never Works

Have you noticed how many difficult people there are in the world? Do you feel like you have to deal with most of them some days? You know what rude acts bug me the most? People who call me and then say, “Who is this?” People who honk their horns in traffic jams. People who cheat in the 10-items-or-less grocery line. People who steal your parking spot. The list goes on, and I’m sure you can relate. So, how should we respond in love to difficult people? Proverbs 16:21 says, “A wise, mature person is known for his understanding. The more pleasant his words, the more persuasive he is” (TEV). The more pleasant you are, the more persuasive you are. And, you’re never persuasive when you’re abrasive. Nagging doesn’t work. The way you say something determines the way it’s received. If you say something offensively, it’s going to be received defensively. That’s why love is all about your words. The Light in the Dark Times

“We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, Who raises the dead.”  (2 Corinthians 1:8b-9 NLT) Did Jesus suffer? Was He sometimes lonely? Was He tempted to be discouraged? Was He misunderstood, maligned, and criticized unjustly? Of course! None of us are exempt from suffering, loneliness, discouragement, or unjust criticism, because God is developing within us the character of Christ, and, in order to do this, He must take us through all of the circumstances in life through which He took Christ. Does this mean God causes tragedies? No. God is good, and He will not cause evil or do evil. But God can use dark and stressful times for good.
